My New “Normal”

Sugar free is my new “normal.”  I am living a sugar-free lifestyle now and have for about a year.  During that year I learned so much about the effects of sugar on my diet.  Gone are so many aches and pains that I thought were the normal part of growing older.  I look back now and realize how what I thought was normal was not normal at all.  Sugar consumption is in the news.  It’s the topic of TV shows, magazine articles, and a growing number of Internet blogs.  More people are turning to a low sugar or no sugar diet by choice or, like myself, by doctor’s orders.  It doesn’t matter why a person makes this choice, it’s of matter of how to live a sugar-free life.  For me it took time to plan menus at first.  I ate foods that I didn’t eat regularly before.  Now my taste buds crave the new recipes that I make featuring more fruits and vegetables.  Surprisingly, I ate more and felt full longer.  The pounds melted away.  What use to take time became automatic.  Healthy habits lead to better health and my new “normal.”
